Exhaustion, English Muffins and Other Random Thoughts

Who knew a post about furniture would get such a good response? I always think it is so funny that when I do what I consider a throwaway post, like yesterday’s post (only because it is more photos than words), I get the most comments. But I am very thankful that I have so many people to ask when I need opinions on something, be it furniture or shoes. Because if you haven’t noticed, I cannot make a decision to save my life. And now that I’ve written about the furniture and got opinions from everyone, I’m completely overwhelmed and back at square one. IT IS ALL TOO MUCH!
THIS is why boxes are still packed.
Right now, I think I’m going to get this for my bathroom to help with the storage of some of the bathroom stuff I need to find a place for:
And then I think I’ll probably get the yellow cabinet for my bedroom for the linens, unless I find something else in the meantime. The reason it has to be in my bedroom is because that’s the only place I can put it. There would be spot against the wall in the entryway by the front door, but that seems like a silly place for it to go.
Now I’m done talking about furniture because I’m having panic attacks thinking about all the options.

I have an English muffin for breakfast every morning. Usually with some Laughing Cow cheese spread on it, sometimes I switch it up and throw some peanut butter on it instead. So I buy a lot of English muffins. This week, I’m thisclose to writing a letter to Thomas’ because apparently someone sat on my muffins (Little Miss Muffet perhaps?) (oh, that was a tuffet) because they were all flat. Do you know how hard it is to open an English muffin that is flat and basically the thickness of a normal HALF of an English muffin? IT IS HARD. Especially first thing in the morning when you haven’t had coffee. Today I apparently channeled The Hulk because I tore that fucking muffin in half and was all “ARRRR! HULK SMASH!”

I’m still exhausted. I have no explanation for it except for maybe mono, even though I show no other symptoms. Because I can barely keep my eyes open all day long. I’m usually at my best in the morning, after my morning java jolt. And then as the day slowly creeps on, I get more and more tired. By the time I get home, I feel like I’m Dr. John Carter and just worked a 72-hour shift at County General.
I’m trying to be better about what I eat. I’m hoping that helps. I also want to start working out, but I swear to God, I’m so tired once I get home that I just crash on the couch and watch crappy TV.
So tomorrow, I’m bringing my gym bag with me, in the car, and I’m heading to the gym after work. I’m going to sign up and starting working out and I’m hoping it helps with the exhaustion. Otherwise, my doctor is writing me a prescription for naps. Seriously.

I would like to write an Ode to my dishwasher.
When I first started looking at condos, I told my realtor “I just need a washer and dryer. A dishwasher would just be gravy. I’m already used to washing my dishes by hand.”
Thankfully, she didn’t really listen to me. Maybe because she too once had to wash dishes by hand and would let them pile up in the sink for days until the smell was so bad she was forced to wash them. Or she ran out of knives. Probably not. That’s probably just me.
I HATE washing dishes. It’s just something I had to do. I would usually put it off until I just couldn’t go any longer without having to throw all the dishes away. This meant I used more paper plates and more disposable things that I didn’t have to wash.
Now, I use real dishes and plates for everything! Having a midnight snack? Get out a plate! Want a sip of milk? Don’t drink it out of the gallon, GET A GLASS! Put everything in the dishwasher! EVEN THE CATS! HUZZAH!
The unloading part sucks, but I do not miss those dishpan hands.

I saw Spring Awakening on Sunday with my mom. My only knowledge of it was that it won tons of Tonys and Ali said she loved it. I was really looking forward to seeing it!
So…I didn’t love it. It was good. But I think I’m a Broadway purist and don’t much care for the “new” musicals that are all radical and shit. (Although I loved Rent.) The music was fantastic, though. But I had a hard time following it because it’s set in the late 1800s, which means they talk like they are in the late 1800s and then they break into a rock song. I think I need to see it again. I really did enjoy the music. Even if I pictured Annie from the New 90210 singing the opening number.
Also, nothing like sitting next to your mom and watching a scene with a guy jacking off on stage!

I would like to do another Death Is Not An Option post tomorrow night. But I need some themes. Do you have any good ones? If so, leave them in the comments!
Last night, I was bummed about my sink full of dishes and the impending ants that take over from time to time, and then I suddenly remembered my dishwasher, and I was so joyous.

I have an english muffin every morning too, but mine has peanut butter and banana on it!

I can’t imagine living without a dishwasher.

Have you talked to your Doctor about this exhaustion? You could be anemic, you know? And then you can take Geritol. Good for Iron in the blood.

The guy jacking off was ACTING…didn’t bother me to be sitting next to you. It’s not like we saw the real thing on the EL…yes, I have seen that more times than I care to remember.
Maybe you have Lyme, do you have that out there?
Also, you totally need to get a dog. First you give the plates to the dog to “pre rinse” and then put them in the dishwasher, sparkling clean plates every single time! I mean, I wouldn’t do that. No no, of course not.

I, too, have an Thomas’ English Muffin for breakfast every morning. Mine were flat last time, too! I’m not sure what happened, but I agree it was irritating.

I LOATHED “Spring Awakening” and am generally suspicious of the new musical genre as a whole; nice to hear someone else admit it!
Ditto what others have said about seeing a doctor about the exhaustion. If that doesn’t help, what about working out in the mornings? Don’t know if you’re at all a morning person, but on the rare times I feel that way & get to the gym in the a.m., I notice I have more energy the rest of the day. Plus, I’m too tired to come up with a reason not to go at that early hour!

That cabinet is nice. So are dishwashers. Unfortunately, the only dishwasher in this house is me.

I am not a musicals fan. BUT there are a few I LOVE: Cabaret, Chicago, Les Miz, Phantom Of The Opera…I don’t like the cheesy ones like Music Man or where the singing just seems so…out of place. I’m not sure if I would like Spring Awakening, but to be honest, when Annie sang it it kind of turned me off to it. Glad it was good music, though!
Hmmm, for the game. did you already do animated characters? Or 80s teen heartthrobs. Oooh, or John Hughes movie characters? I pick Ferris Bueller!

I used to eat Thomas english muffins but switched to Bay’s from the refrigerator section and find myself much happier.
DINAO – Mug Shots of the rich and famous – including sports people…Patrick Kane (yummy)
Mono, eh? The kissing disease… Yeah. That sounds like you. 😉
Feel better. Glad you don’t have to wash dishes by hand. I lived for 5 years with 2 kids and no dishwasher (AND no a/c) Still not sure how I survived that torture…
.-= tracey´s last blog ..Drifting away again… =-.
Damn it if I don’t want a damn English muffin right now. I’ll have to try laughing cow on one. I usually just do cream cheese.

DINAO for tomorrow? Here are a few options:
opera singers! (ok, i’m an opera singer so this would be easy for me. but still…very worth it! Would YOU have sex with Pavarotti? Or Paul Potts? ew.)
reality stars! (now this one I KNOW you can do)
anchor men/women?
cartoons?
ok. i’m stopping now. really going to go do my homework. really.
(and I also want to agree with Legallyblondemel about working out in the morning. I didn’t need coffee after doing that. *sigh* I miss the gym. I’ll get back to it someday)
I am so glad that I have a new efficient dishwasher, because with the kids home I am running it daily. It’s a pain to constantly monitor their using 23 glasses each, so I just shut up and wash them!
Do you have Fresh n’ Easy stores in Chicago? If so, you have to buy English muffins there – they are very thick, but still airy. Ridiculously good!
.-= Lori´s last blog ..so it’s already august… =-.
First of all, I have the same thing for breakfast every day M-F: plain oatmeal. Yes I am THAT exciting. Second, I once saw a guy jerking off too when I was with my mom but this was actual jerking off; we were walking around a university campus and whoops, there it was! Third, I know re: dishwasher – biggest luxury ever. Although my husband and I are rather passive-aggressive about who actually does the unloading. First-world problems here, yo.
I’m not a big musicals fan. But I did love Rent. Love, love, love.
I’ve only ever spent 10 months living without a dishwasher, and that was my senior year of college. Let me tell you, I ate out a lot. And had tons of paper/plastic dishware.
As for DINAO? Football coaching staff (college or professional)?

Re: Exhaustion: Gyms always make me more tired. They’re depressing and they smell. I’ve been hiking a lot lately (long walks in hilly places will do the trick just fine, if you don’t live near any trails). The fresh air, a bit of sunshine after work (now while we still have it!) and getting the blood pumping has made me feel a LOT more awake lately! Plus it is easier to get off my butt now that I have a workout I actually enjoy.
I’m so with you on the Dishwasher. I have one now for the first time in a gazillion years and I love it so much I’d probably make out with it if I could.
.-= HollyLynne´s last blog ..Forever 21 never quits while they’re ahead =-.
I always have LC and an English Muffin in the morning too and I have noticed that they are so flat lately! (I usually add a slice of tomato as well but sometimes I’m too lazy to cut one open).
Also, I love that cabinet – very nice!
I’m never, ever going to get this place unpacked and settled. EVER. I swear the boxes are multiplying every time I leave a room.

I’ve been feeling exactly the same lately with The Tired, so I feel your pain. Here’s hoping the gym fixes it!
.-= Amber´s last blog ..Green Dress Update =-.
I could never get into a gym routine until I started going early in the morning. I get up at 5:40am (I know), go to the gym from 6:00 to 7:00, and am in the office at 8:30. I know it sounds HORRIBLE, but if you get in the habit of going to bed at 10:00, it’s actually not hard. It really helped my sleep actually.
my ex didn’t have a dishwasher, and was used to handwashing everything, and would GIVE ME SHIT for putting things in the dishwasher. because HE wouldn’t put anything in there, so it wasn’t full enough to run every night with just my like 1 plate and cup, and then what if he wanted to use that cup? it was DIRTY!
.-= Alice´s last blog ..because i’m not strong enough to stop drinking wine =-.
Ask the Dr. if you have chronic fatigue syndrome.
Love Bay’s English Muffins, so much better than Thomas.
Also tired, and certainly too tired for “lovin” so no names to suggest. Did you work out? I thought this would be my week to work out, it wasn’t.
About Spring Awakening–I love the music as well. About a year ago I sat down with the book for the show (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Spring-Awakening/Steven-Sater/e/9781559363150/?itm=3) and my ipod. I read the dialogue and turned on each song as it came. I think that helped me understand the show a little better because I could take my time to understand the dialogue. I finally get to see the show live this Saturday so I’m pretty excited.

okay, so now i want an english muffin with peanut butter please. hahah.
also, i hate doing the dishes. HATE. but i am like you, i will have to do the dishes tomorrow because i am out of glasses. granted, i did not use all said glasses, just i have people running through my house all the time (it’s kind of like i have kids without the luxaries of having actually had kids 🙁 no husbands, no babies, just 20odd year olds drinking my beverages. hahah)
i love the bathroom cabinet.
i am sorry that i missed out on all of the fun posts that i did read but didn’t comment on because i was busy. 🙁 but i think the kids yellow dresser will be fine. haha. also, white furniture can be painted if you tire of it. 🙂
andddd, my DINAO suggestion was also reality tv stars because it’s thursday and that means it’s big brother night and that’s what i’m doing so that’s what i say. hahah.
/random. have a nice day! 🙂
you need to see it again. in march. with me.
that is all.
I will teach you to appreciate its awesomeness.

also? does it not blow your mind that that shit was written in 1891??!? It was SOOOO radical and groundbreaking when it was written. and I just love that the story holds up and that it’s totally made awesome by the ridiculously good music.
