In Like A Lion
Posted By Kristabella on March 1, 2010
When you were in grade school, did you used to talk about how March came “in like a lion and out like a lamb”? And then “April showers bring May flowers”? I swear, if people ever wonder why Midwesterners talk about the weather so much, it’s like it has been ingrained in us since we were little. Because it is March and it is ALMOST THE END OF WINTER! HUZZAH! If we talk about spring enough, it will be spring! And not snow! And be above freezing! COME ON EVERYBODY, BELIEVE!
Well, my March came in like a Lion because I was up all night last night with stomach issues and the chills. So I stayed home today to rest and hopefully eat something and drink and get my energy up.
Here is a list of the other things I did:
- Slept
- Twittered
- Played Words with Friends, mostly with Rhi because she was home sick too (ZOMG, I got sick through the INTERNET!)
- Watched a lot of daytime television, including the first episode of The OC on SoapNet. Man, it is a WONDER why I stuck with that show. The only thing that made that show was Seth Cohen. Even in episode 1.
- Summer was like the Kelly Taylor of that show – so dumb and slutty in the beginning and turned out to be a good person, who went to BROWN.
- Spent a lot of quality time with my cats
- I think my one cat might actually be sick or something. She’s been barfing a lot lately. Funny, though, she only seems to do it when I’m not here. Convenient, cat.
- Ate toast
- Drank cherry limeade Crystal Light
- Napped
- Watched The Golden Girls because no sick day is complete without Dorthy and the Gang.
And that my friends is a day in the life of Kristabella: The Sick Day Edition.
So tell me, readers (I think there are more than one of you these days), do you have any interesting news to share? Any exciting stories? Any topics you’d like to see me blog about? Because we’re still a month from Easter, kids, and I’m running out of steam.
How about… the best and worst things about (living in) Chicago? I was supposed to visit later this year, but ended up having to leave it out of the trip (I’m from Australia). If I”m not going to see it, I’d love to hear about it from someone who lives there!!
Also: snow. As someone who’s stood in snow (on a glacier), but never even felt it fall or really had to walk through it, let alone live through a winter of it, I’d like to know: how do people live their lives when it snows? How do you function? I just don’t get it. I get living with months of drought and super-duper heat, but snow? Life with snow? It confuses me.
So… yeah! Just some thoughts. 🙂
Also, get better soon!
I didn’t wear snow boots today!!!! There is only one patch of snow/ice on my walk to the bus but I knew I could make it with gym shoes! YAY!!!! However, this IS Chicago and I ain’t putting the snow boots away just yet.
Hope you feel better!
I seriously hated Kelly Taylor more than (almost) any other TV character. Even now it’s a wonder I can watch Jennie Garth in anything without screaming. SO CONDESCENDING AND JUDGMENTAL AND….phew, I have strong opinions about her.
Feel better!
eee, feel better. i spent the weekend w/your chicago peeps (katie! danielle! erin!) at the 1/2 marathon 🙂

How about an update on Noah the bear…did he make it to China?
Hope you’re feeling better…the stomach big went through our office two weeks ago…yuck
Oh, Seth Cohen. Be still my heart.
I’m not sure I’ve seen a DINAO in a while. Possibly a nerdy version (a la Seth Cohen) or icky husband version (a la Tiger Woods) or a TV Dad You Wish Was Your Dad (a la Phil from “Modern Family”).

A blogger I follow mentioned yesterday that after a recent bathroom-related post, he has received no fewer than 12 emails, tweets, etc., from people who are “thinking of him” while they’re in the john. I found this hilarious, and understandable, because now I think of YOU every time I’m riding my bike past parked cars. Thanks for not writing about bodily functions…really. 🙂
