My New ‘Do
Posted By Kristabella on September 29, 2011
So remember when I asked about growing out my bangs? And I asked for all of your opinions? And y’all were so helpful in that you were split down the middle?
Well, I decided to grow them out. And I think they are growing. I know they are fucking annoying.
I started out doing this.
(Oh, and also recently got it cut and colored dark again. This is my perfect and favorite shade.)
And that seemed to work well at the beginning when there was no humidity and it was cooler in Chicago. But then it’s not been arid here. Add into that when I move and sweat and then my “bangs” end up curling at the ends and they look like ass.
(This is me and my friend Teri at the wedding. She wasn’t driving, which is why she’s so drunk she’s not even looking at the person taking the photo.) (Hi Teri!)
So now I’m doing this:
And for the most part, I like it. It’s easy and I spend less time doing my hair. But I also think I look ridiculous. And also, 12.
So, people of the internet, please tell me I don’t look stupid. Even if you’re lying.
Also, I need other options because I feel like I look the exact same every day and it’s starting to annoy me. Can I pull them to one side? Pull them back to either side? WHAT?
I think you look great.
I think it looks cute!
What about twisting your bangs and then pinning them to one side? Or adding a headband? Or pulling the rest of your hair into a low messy bun? Just to add some variety?

You look cute! As for other styles, I’m all for headbands. I throw them on when I don’t want to style my bangs. Goody makes some that have rubber grippers on the head side that keep your bangs back better than regular headbands- I’m pretty sure you can get them at Target.
Hey, you look great. If I may suggest, why don’t you get some side fringes? they will surely suit you. and you can experiment with them as they grow back.

It’s actually pretty cute… and much better than ass bangs. Headbands would probably work for you too.

I’m also growing my bangs out at the moment and my favorite thing to do is to twist them to one side and hold it in place with a few bobby pins.
totally cute! i have never once found a way to deal with growing out bangs in an elegant fashion, so i unfortunately have no additional suggestions 😛

braid the bangs, like this?

I am kinda growing out my bangs, and instead of braiding them, I frequently start at one side and twist them so it looks sort of braid-ish, then pin at the other side. That description is not terribly helpful, I know. Um…sort of like this:

They make teeny tiny bobby pins that I use to pin them, since my hair is really fine and regular size bobby pins don’t hold my wispy bangs.

You don’t look 12. 13, tops.
My husband HAAAATES when I do this with my hair, but I tell him it keeps it out of my face so he can suck it!

You look peachy keen – a very cute look. My only suggestion would be a headband (try it see if it works for you and doesn’t give you a headache). Other than that, growing out bangs is a bitch and like you said – humidity sucks.
Next time you go in for a cut, ask your stylist to blend the edges into your hair around the side of your face, but also in a way you can wear your bangs to the side.
That’s how mine are cut right now, and I can wear the split-part, the side-part, or pull them back in all kinds of ways while I grow them out.
I don’t think it looks stupid at all! You look really cute. Every time I do that with my hair, though, I think it looks nice and my husband thinks I look like a 12-year-old with a five head. Not that YOU look like a 12-year-old with a five head. Just me, apparently. But whatever, I still do it.
When growing out my bangs, I could just wet them and then blow dry them to one side — this worked even when they were too long to really be considered “bangs.”
Looking good 🙂
Love all these ideas. You hair looks cute with the clip, but now you have some other options to try that will surely look wonderful on you.

Everyone does that, so I guess everyone looks twelve. (;
Seriously, though — and I’m not lying to you — you look cute. Growing out bangs is a pain in the ass. I tend to get bangs cravings, get them, hate them after a few weeks, and start growing them out… which I hate more. I’m almost always in a state of growing out some kind of bangs. Parting them at the side and pulling them over as side bangs works really well for me, and so does clipping or pinning it back. Sometimes I even part my hair at the side and then pin back both sides so I sort of have a double bump. (I suck at it lately, though, and I have no idea why.)
Hair is such a pain in the ass.

De-lurking to comment on the bangs – I think they are cute pulled back. My two cents is to stick with it, although I haven’t had bangs since the mid 90s because I fear the grow-out stage.
Hey! I think the bangs look cute pulled back in that pic! It is very “now”!! I also really like your hair dark! unfortunately, I have no other bang suggestions as when I had bangs I used to try to feather them into the perfect storm of curls and wisps that would complement my HUGE glasses. Sadly, I always failed. Then, I decided to cut them myself and ended up with a quarter-inch of bangs at the VERRRRYYYY top of my forehead. I was 13 at the time and definitely looked like i cut my own hair. As a result, i have been bang-free. That was an overly long explanation but it felt good to confess…
I think you look really cute with them pulled back like that!!

oh yeah, the growing out stages are very troubling at times. I went from a jaw-length bob to a shoulder blade length layered ‘do over a very long and painful 2 year period.
I love the pinned back look. serious. I do the same on occasion. I also pin to the side. sorry, I’m not very creative. that’s all I got. 🙂 xo

I think they look cute, but yes, you can do the same thing to the side. You can also do a little mini french braid (just add from the side closest to your face) and pin that off to the side.
I wore my hair like that all the time when I was growing out my bangs.
And, um, I still do.
It looks good on you…and I have seen it!
xoxo
I still wear my hair like that. In fact I’m wearing it like that now.
No you don’t look stupid.
And yes, you can go to the side or braid.
Oh how I wish I could braid better. I’m such a girl failure.
xo

I really like it… I think you look pretty with it pulled back that way…I know how you feel though. I put a few strands of hair in a sparkly barrette this AM and it looked really cute, but I still took it down…
