Other people having keys to your unit = not normal in a condo complex.

HOAs occasionally needing to get access into every unit = normal, but usually not mandatory.

HOAs needing to get access into every unit for sprinkler inspections at the order of the fire chief = uncommon, but totally mandatory if it happens unless you have $$$ to drop on all sorts of fines and penalties.

I’ve been in my condo for a few years now and know my neighbors pretty well. When stuff like this pops up one of us will usually hold the keys for all our units and let the guys in when they need to.

If the rest of your building is being exterminated, trust me: YOU WANT YOUR UNIT TREATED. Otherwise when all the bugs/critters/whatever they’re exterminating evacuate your neighbours units, they’re going to run straight into yours. That’s why when a building is treated, you really should treat the whooooole building. My landlord doesn’t bother, so whenever our filthy neighbours wind up with cockroaches and have their apt. sprayed, the bugs try to take up residence in mine instead (no deal — I personally caulked or expanding foamed every crack in my kitchen and bathroom).

As OWNERS of the condos, aren’t the individuals responsible for exterminating their own properties? That’s kind of odd. Hell yeah, I would lock my door too! Could be some kind of scam…

I live in a small condo complex (9 units) which is self managed (my husband is actually the VP), so our circumstances may be different than yours if you live in a larger building . . . but if a (PINK!) sign like that went up in our lobby I would LAUGH IN ITS EFFING FACE.

No way in hell should anyone at the property management office have a KEY to your place and no way in hell should anyone be allowed to ‘scheudle’ an extermination without your input and consent.

My blood is boiling on your behalf.

Ah, yes. One of the CONS in CONdominium living.

Welcome to Condo Hell.
It is normal.
They don’t usually have keys (mine doesn’t)
At my place the HOA will set up things on Saturdays so you don’t have to take time off work to be there.
And meetings are important for you to go, to see what’s happening with your dues, but they SUCK!
My neighbors are also noisy,However Norm scares them into silence(thanks god for bald tattoo guys)
